Klickitat River Trail

This Trail section of the Klickitat River Trail starts at about the 16.3 mile marker on Hwy 142. It is the east side of the Columbia River Gorge, therefore, the weather was just a bit warmer than Home in Clark County. Also, even though it was early Spring, the Snakes were already coming out. On this day we found the common Garden Snake and a Brown Racer.

The Trail goes along an old Railroad easement. While it is a rather level path, it is also very rocky.

Looking across the river could be seen there remains on some Farms and Cattle Ranches. We did notice signs posted along Hwy 142 that stated that areas were Open Range area.

Found several of the Concert stands on both sides of the River and Hwy 142. This one even had Rusty Water actively pumping out of it.  My guess is that they were either used by the Railroad to water the engine or maybe even for water Cattle at one time.

Old Power Plant that is no longer in use along side the River. I notice that there is also a park or campground near the Power plant.

This is a River that I would love to came back and either just float or Canoe.  The Current is quick but the view is breathtaking!
